Have you ever:

Have you ever tried to hold the wind
with leaves running around?
Have you ever tried to find a friend
when looking all over town?
Have you ever tried to catch a smile
that's not for you it seems?
Have you ever tried to run a mile
around the rainbow's beams?
Have you ever tried to take a thought
out into the burning light?
Have you ever tried true love brought
in the middle of the night?
Have you ever tried to find one word
you will never get to rhyme?
Have you ever tried to give to her
the truest love of all time?

I think this may be my absolute favorite. It made me smile. It's lovely, Ellis. Just lovely.

Have you ever read a poem that was just beautiful? I just did.

More burning questions! I've tried almost all of these.... But suceeded at very few! (The last two! Her being a daughter-)
... I didn't even find a dis-membered body part in this one!

I've tried at least one of these things, if not more. Thank you for a lovely poem this early morning, Ellis.

Just loved this one, Ellis.

The wind, the town, the smile, the beams.

Light and love and rhymes and dreams.

Ellis -- I loved the sentiment expressed in this poem, but I don't think you were just writing a good poem.

You are so sneaky about the that last stanza and finding the word that will rhyme:~)

BTW I love my verification word. It is "unsupet." Now, there's a word to create a poem around. Let's give a try. Here's mine:

She was so unsupet,
that she forgot
she was a string Puppet
and tried to run away
with Beauregard, the Muppet...

Ellis,

Did you notice there are three poems here? The first is the obvious. The second is read only every first line. The third is read only every second line. Very interesting!

I always enjoy your poems, Ellis. Every one without exception. You combine the practicle and the poetic most gracefully.

I'll be back later to read more Moore! :-)

Happy days ...

JamieDedes said...

Sorry! That would be "practical." But you probably know what I mean.

Later ...

Whimsical, and yet straight as an arrow. Beautiful read, my good chum. :)
