Run Tumble Weeds run
racers across the vast plains of time
running before the wind.
No home to call your own
clinging to anything you can
in hopes to find a place for yourself.
On Tumble Weeds on
you left the home of your youth
for the future of those to come.
Before you lies open nothingness
with only the wind to guide you
and the will to seek anew.
Run on Tumble Weeds run on.

This makes me both sad and envious of the tumbleweeds at the same time...
I agree with Talon.
I love how you ended it, so many possibilities...
"Windrunners" cool word! I've met some folks like that too-Like the folks who follow the Remmaisance Faires across the country for a living...
Never seen a real tumbeweed yet tho-
Good poem- Keep rolling tumble weeds!
this is a very visual poem and Its so easy to see the subject and its environment. It's also very thought provoking, and as Talon said, a little sad.
Only the wind to guide them. That is beautiful...
Totally awesome post.
Poor little tumble weeds. Nomads.
Lovely poem!
xo
I can't get that last line out of my head: "Run on Tumble Weeds run on."
I'm a fan.
This is delightful ... a contradiction ... happy and sad at the same time ... the freedom to run on tumbleweed, run on comes at a price ...
Lovely ...
this is a nice to read aloud. Also, I have enjoyed the idea of tumbleweeds, though I've never seen them.
I like the freedom of the tumbleweeds to fly ahead of the wind. I also loved your word, "wind runners." In my mind, I see the tumbleweeds like sailing boats of old...they never stay too long in one place, but go out in search of new adventures.
As usual, well said, Ellis!

The can grow up to be about a 2.5 ball shape hard brown weed. When they break loss the roll across the planes and spread their seeds.

So many things pay the price without a thought. We humans want to bicker over it.

Yes like sailing ships of old.
Nice way to see the lonely tumbleweeds.
Seems like true freedom.
