Utopian Dream: right

A Utopian Dream I’m asked to write about
Some perfect world I have no doubt
A sun that shines softly every day
There is never work only joyful play
Love is forever, true and never dies
To their fellow man, no one lies
The birds sing the squirrels run free
My God that place is not for me

I try and write about the truth my eyes see
Of the trials God gives us to help us be free
Is there really a place for this Utopian Dream
Where life is so good, there’s no bad it seems
One’s mood won’t ever go up or down
Where there is only smiles and never a frown
How do you know it’s right if nothing goes wrong
How can one sing, if just one doesn’t hum along

Give me a break on this Utopian Dream
Every now and then I need to hear a scream
I need to know my world has fallen, into a loop
It’s in a bit of a pickle, face deep in the soup
So give me a dream that’s as nice as can be
But put in a demon that’ll pop out at me
Nothing is that sweet all the blessed time
All worlds are full of poisons vines

Here is to show you my writings won’t stray
This Utopian Dream post at your feet I lay

Hi, good to see your post. Great use of the prompt, too. Perfect is boring, right? You have yours up nice and early! Which is probably the reason why I am the first to comment :)

Hope all is well with you and yours.

Nilanjana: It's so nice you dropped by so soon
Yes I would really be bored there.

It's great to have another poet on board. Love your use of the prompt.

Great that you found inspiration from Utopian Dreams. Thanks for joining us again.

Big smiles. That utopia strikes me as static and as exciting as concrete. I too would be bored to sobs. And probably destructive with it.

Denise Covey:
Reading some of the Utopian Dreams I see a lot of inspiration.

Elephant Child:
I too but don't we all long for utopia somewhere.

Oh so very true
Boredom would ring true
One wouldn't even know was evil was
Then when around us it began to buzz
Utopia would simply burn
People need all aspects of life to learn

The daily challenges of life is why we dream of days that aren't, but so true, if utopia arrived we'd make it less so. I think Eve gets that accusation. :)

Love your format but if evil were only a dream, I could live with that!
A little disruption, okay, but demons and evil, I prefer only in nightmares.

So glad you could participate in the WEP Utopian Dream Challenge.

Wishing you and yours a lovely holiday and a blessed New Year!

Yeah, there is no happiness without pain, no contentment without anxiety. Your poem captures the idea perfectly.

Pat:
true on what you say
one has to learn
before one can play

Yolanda:
Was Eve the one
that begin it all
To be good or bad
did she make that call
Demons were here yet
no evil she knew
Until Cain killed Abel
then away evil flew

Oiga:
Does pain and happiness
go hand and hand
As anxiety and contentment
are in the souls of man
To your point I assure you
that I will agree
Yet then I wrote it
and I’m only me

"How do you know it’s right if nothing goes wrong" — yes. YES! Loved this. And thank you so much for the visit to my blog last week... Sorry it took me so long to return the visit — but I'll be back often :) In the meantime, happy holidays!

I enjoyed reading your poem. Many thoughts that make one think or question the idea of there being a Utopia.
Excellent job.
Have a Merry Christmas and a beautiful walk over into the new year.
Shalom aleichem,
Pat Garcia

Guilie:
and thank you for making the spin around.

Pat:
I tried to post a reply but at last it would not let me.
so this is the best I seem to have come up with
your reply on my blog.

No peace just war
will man not cry
What makes them wish
the other would die

The babe will learn
what his mom and dad know
The war will go on through
their generation too

Until the chain breaks
By us not telling the lies
Then babies will learn
And peace might survive

Yes, indeed. I prefer to have a dose of hard reality just to keep me on my toes. I doubt I'd do well in Utopia. Thanks for the poem that expressed the need for a few demons among the clouds.

To everything there is a season...

It's the ability to choose for oneself whether or not to do good or bad that makes the good so precious. It's not something that has been assigned to us.

I enjoy your use of language and poetry.

if demons were in the clouds
to heaven I'd not go
they’ll catch me in the fog
from my only earthly woes

What no drawing of lots
not by mire change
we have to pick the song
to which we must dance

Good stuff. I like how you did this entry.

Love your take on this prompt. And you're right, anything so perfect can also be shallow. Where is depth if there is no subterfuge? Can we appreciate a too-honest honesty?
Well done.

JL Dorner:
Thanks

DG Hudson:
I missed the use of honesty
If I could cheat a little
I might work it in maybe

Ah but the truth is so different to each of us. Guess some ware the rose colored glasses. Yet without the villain it is pretty boring in the tale. Trying to get used to this new, cheap tablet thingy! My new villain...

A most interesting take on the Utopian Dream theme, boredom! I suppose it's true when you think about it and after all, how can you know what light truly is, if you have never experienced darkness. Well done.

Many have commented
but some I've missed
now that your here
my eyes do mist
your words are so kind
yet not hand will I kiss

How you been KID

Farawayeyes:
How can you have one
With out the other
In that kind of world
Why even bother

Snaggle:
Thanks
