A word loosely dropped, a thought revealed.
Nothing was meant, yet now fate is sealed.
Trust is broken from a slip of this tongue.
This friendship will die to which I clung.
I ask myself how I could’ve been a fool
I meant nothing by it, I thought it was cool.
Now my friend is gone and it’s not the same.
A word thoughtlessly used is not just a game.
It’s too late, for a new scar is across my heart.
I put it there not knowing it would never part.
If it had been only me, I would still feel bad.
Yet the dominoes fall in this world gone mad.
How many friendships will my words undo?
Because of my words left friend number two.
A word loosely dropped a thought revealed.
Nothing was meant yet now fate is sealed.

Words have such power... Losing a friend because of words accidentally dropped is painful. Though when I read "thought it was cool" I get the image of someone spilling a friend's secret and that is definitely a trust breaker.

So easy to lose trust, isin't it?
Some folks take everything too seriously, n should give second chances!
I got unkind adjective

I like Snaggle's take on second chances. We all mess up occasionally, only human to do so.

Another fine poem

I concur. Trust is an easy thing to violate, isn't it. I've been on the receiving end of that more times than I care to count. AND I've been the perpetrator, sad to say. Perhaps we could all learn a thing or two from this poem, Ellis.

I have a hard time drawing the line between honesty and tact. I'm learning the hard way :-)

Powerful poem, Ellis. One that I think everyone can relate to in some way.

This is really sad Ellis. But you know what, true friends will forgive and return. I hope this is the case with these people.

trust is everything to me...once it's broken...I usually don't give second chances :D

Ellis -- This one really hits home for me. Been there; done this.

Remember that ditty about "sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me." I learned this isn't really true.

I've been on both sides of this painful word lesson. I have found that learning to ask, and give, forgiveness is the antidote in many cases to this heartbreak.

Thanks for the poem, Ellis:~)

Yes a lot of secrets told were in secret but was fun

But trust should not need a second chance.

And humans hurt humans and everything else.

Learn a thing that is good
Learn two WOW

Thanks way to kind
And happy Thursday back

It’d be a lot better if it was not true.

Wow nice to see you back. Was thinking of sending out a S&R to look for you.

Now that is the sad part bschooler that we can relate to it in the first place.

Paige: Paige:
So nice to see you again.
It is a shame for it was inspired by many. At last I too am one

Some good friends do some don’t.
Thank you for dropping in.

Remind me not to break your trust.

I think every one of us has
Still have we learned to ask and give is the question.
