My mind is working
My soul screams out
This body is full of pain
Everyone looks
As they walk by
Thinking I’m insane
A bit of change
They throw my way
Giving themselves a high
But from their looks
Everyone can tell,
It’d be okay if I died
My mind is working
My soul screams out
This body is full of pain
Everyone looks
As they walk by, yet
Which of us is sane

This day I've been feeling so,
How could you know?
This day was once my Dad's B-day.
He'd have been 85 were he here-
But 23 years ago he flew -
Clear out of this cuckoo's nest,
Well before he got to get ricketty n wise like you...
Treasure each day no matter what!
You are, of course!
Snaggle
A wise woman once told me as long as you remember they will always be with you.
Keep your heart opened on that day.
What's there is not, what's not is.
Thanks
So often overlooked...so often tossed aside. Sad, but true, Ellis.
TALON
The nails we put in our self
seem to be the hardest to pull out.
You have captured someone I see so often here - so sad.
This poem was very powerful and true. You can tell by the reactions in the comment box. Each person had a different reaction. Obviously, these words struck home to them.
We are afraid of what we don't understand. We don't known how to deal with it and often make us fools. No person is a throw-away, yet sometimes we treat each other as trash.
This also made me think of the Joe South song, "Walk a Mile in My Shoes." It an oldie, but goodie and definitely you think...just like your poem did.
